We heard Renee Wasylyk, one of the 100 most powerful women in Canada and CEO of Troika Developments, Jason Richards, CEO of Minga a school-focused, Kelowna-based start-up company, and our very own CEO, Nikki Csek discuss the growing entrepreneurial spirit in Kelowna and the Okanagan while also sharing their personal journey through business. They offered advice for students, aspiring entrepreneurs, and those who have been in the game for a long time.

“I really loved the opportunity to share the stage with Renee Wasylyk and Jason Richards. It was such a pleasure and so inspiring to see the next generation of up and coming entrepreneurs. The questions were intelligent which speaks volumes to the excellence of instruction they have received over the years from professors such as Dan Allen at the Okanagan School of Business at Okanagan College,” said Csek.

Nikki has become an integral member of the business community. She is the current president of the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce and has served as a director for many local businesses and not-for-profit boards while serving her community. For over 20 years, she has worked alongside businesses to understand their challenges and provide solutions that make a difference.

With her past experience in mind, Nikki described what continues to motivate her to reach new levels of success in leadership and business and how others, at any level, can achieve their dreams if they stay focused on their goals.

“Everything is cyclical and I am truly excited about the interest by so many that are peeking over the entrepreneurial fence.”

Kelowna is full of aspiring entrepreneurs and it’s events like these that offer invaluable information from those who are leading the charge in the business world. Keep your eyes peeled for future conversation panels from the Okanagan Business Students’ Association at Okanagan College for opportunities to hear from other business leaders.
