Lifestyle Writer | Victoria, BC

Our partner, VictoriaNow (A news source which also features events and local stories for the city of Victoria) is looking for a full-time Lifestyle Writer to join their team of energetic and creative professionals! We’re looking for a passionate writer with a knack for storytelling to work with our news team and clients to produce high-quality digital content on the VictoriaNow platform.

Responsibilities

• Writing lifestyle content for the VictoriaNow platform
• Seeking out fun and engaging stories throughout the City of Victoria
• Working with our news team to execute effective content strategies
• Taking amazing pictures of the people of Victoria, businesses, and events
• Working with clients to determine goals and find the best way to achieve them
• Collaborating with our executive and sales team to deliver unique programs
• Identifying trending topics for coverage, and contributing to brainstorming and content planning
• Having fun (we hope!)

Ideal Candidate

• Experience writing engaging content for digital platforms. This may include blogs, news articles, web copy, or any other form of written storytelling.

• Ability to write impactful content about all kinds of topics (food, events, culture, arts, sports, music—you get the idea)
• Sound knowledge of marketing principles and techniques
• A mastery of social media to help develop and grow our brand on various platforms
• Be familiar with our brands and passionate about lifestyle content
• Showcase a strong understanding of audience engagement in a digital environment
• Have a portfolio that demonstrates an understanding of the type of content that appeals to and engages online users Have knowledge of or interest in gaining an understanding of analytics
• Showcase a passion for all lifestyle content – broadcast, digital and social
• Photography skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Formal education in journalism, business, or creative writing would be an asset

Wage:
Salary will be commensurate with the experience of the selected candidate.
